Program Objectives

The CAMC Nursing Professional Development and Innovation Conference will feature lectures, case presentations and educational sessions on a variety of acute care issues facing nursing professionals today. This one-day conference will focus on future professional nursing trends an update on the care of the Autism Spectrum Disorder patient population, the role of mentoring in today's healthcare environment and current legal and legislative issues in nursing. Posters from throughout the health system will be presented on current research, quality improvement and education. The program is designed for all professional nurses working in all areas of healthcare. 

 

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Define and describe characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Explain how sensory sensitivity impacts behavior and interactions.
  • Identify strategies to support the individual and enhance self-regulation.
  • Discuss current nursing issues, locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Explore the tole and function of an effective mentor in the healthcare settings.
  • Provide an overview of current legal and legislative issues in nursing.
