Beth Emrick, MD
Beth Emrick, MD, FAAP is an associate professor at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. She got her undergraduate degree in Agricultural Biotechnology at the University of Kentucky. She received her medical degree at West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at the Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University - Charleston Division, where she served as chief resident. After completing fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at Akron Children's Hospital, she joined the faculty at WVU Charleston Division in 2013. Subsequently, she joined the faculty at Marshall University in 2021.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Emrick is passionate about medical education and served as pediatric clerkship director at WVU Charleston. At Marshall University, she is a co-director of the pediatrics clerkship and Associate Program Director for the pediatric residency program. She is active in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), serving as the WV Chapter President from 2022 to 2024. She also represents her specialty in the AAP's Female Leadership and Excellence in Pediatric Subspecialties group whose goal is to discuss, design and identify solutions to address gender inequity in pediatric subspecialties.
Rayan Ihle, MD FACP
Rayan Ihle, MD FACP is an associate professor at WVU Charleston Division. She holds degrees in Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Psychology from Ohio University. She received her medical degree from The Ohio State University and pursued Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency at Indiana University where she served as Chief Resident. She joined WVU faculty after completing fellowship in Pulmonary Critical Care at the University of Kentucky in 2012.
Dr. Ihle is the Division Chief of Pulmonary Critical Care at Charleston Area Medical Center. She is involved in multiple leadership positions within the hospital and the academic programs including the CAMC Lung Cancer Screening Committee, ECMO Committee, Sepsis Committee, Clinical Integration Committee and Promotion and Tenure Committees among others. Her clinical interests include lung cancer, interventional pulmonary, education, cardiac critical care, and pulmonary hypertension.

Shelda Martin, MD
Shelda Martin, MD, has more than 30 years of experience in health care. She is a graduate of WVU School of Medical Technology and School of Medicine. She began her medical career in education, teaching Internal Medicine at West Virginia University in Charleston and has achieved the rank of Associate Professor. In 2007, she was asked by then-Governor Manchin to serve as the Medical Director of the West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA) and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), setting health policies for more than 250,000 West Virginians. She returned to Charleston Area Medical Center in 2017 as the Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for Ambulatory and Physician Services. In this position, she headed a team of more than 250 employed clinical providers across emergency departments, hospitalists and critical care settings, and 60 primary and specialty care clinics. She now serves as the ACMO over clinical operations at CAMC Memorial Division, the health system's flagship hospital for Adult Critical Care, and Hearth and Vascular Excellence. In addition to her administrative work, she is clinically active in serving as the Medical Director of the CAMC Ryan White Program for 25 years. She has extensive experience in grant writing at both the state and federal levels, bringing in approximately 10 million dollars to fund the CAMC Ryan White Program and the CAMC Addiction Care Programs. In the community setting, she serves as the current President of Kanawha Medical Society and a Board Member for Hospice Care of West Virginia and the CAMC Housing Board.

Melissa Poulos, MD, MPH
Melissa Poulos MD, MPH, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Lake Erie College, a Master in Public Health Degree with a focus in Health Science Management and Policy from The Ohio State University and a Medical Degree from St. Matthew's University. She completed a Preliminary General Surgery Residency training year, and further completed her Family Medicine Residency at Charleston Area Medical Center. She joined CAMC as a full time Hospitalist in 2010 and was appointed Medical Director of CAMC General Hospitalist Program in 2012.
Dr. Poulos remains a full time Hospitalist, and advanced as Stroke Medical Director as well in 2013 at CAMC. Her leadership opportunities expanded as she took on the Transfer Center Medical Director position for the system in 2021. She is very active in leadership and remains the Chief of the Family Medicine Department since 2014, and advocates strongly for the patient population she serves. She remains on the Addiction Services Medical Advisory Board, as well as the Appalachian Stroke Network Council.
