CAMC Neurology is participating in two new research projects to help improve patient care.
1. Database Determination to Evaluate COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), Diabetes and Neurological Complications
This study will determine if diabetic patients who get COVID-19 are at a greater risk for neurological disorders, such as neuropathy, when compared to diabetic patients who do not get COVID-19.

2. Novel FANG-D Stroke Scale to Determine Large Vessel Occlusion (LVO)
Large vessel occlusions (LVO) are blockages of main arteries in the brain. With stroke, time is of the essence to restore blood flow as quickly as possible. The FANG-D is a brief scale that takes less time to administer than the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale. This study will determine if our new conversion scale is more specific in detecting LVO by reviewing previous stroke patients at CAMC and comparing the scores.
