Dink Jardine, MD, FACS, is the Associate Chief Academic Officer for Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for Charleston Area Medical Center. She works clinically as a general otolaryngologist specializing in outpatient and non-surgical ENT patient care.
She has held multiple GME leadership roles in both military and non-military institutions and at the national level. She is involved in creating and leading the National Association of DIOs, where she serves as the Chair of the Small Sponsoring Institution Council and the Educational Committee and is a founding member of the Executive Committee. She retired after 26 years in the US Navy, most recently serving as the Director for Professional Education (DPE) and Designated Institutional Official (DIO) at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune (NMCCL). She has been active in the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) since 2013. She has served as a resident member of the Institutional Review Committee, Chair of the ACGME Council of Review Committee Residents, multiple ACGME Task Forces including various roles in Milestones Development and Physician Well-Being and a resident member of the Clinical Learning Environment Review Committee. She was the founding Chair of the ACGME’s Back to Bedside grant and continues to be involved in this initiative.
Dr. Jardine has a keen interest in promoting innovation in graduate medical education, fostering resident leadership and faculty development. Her work has been published in the Journal of Graduate Medical Education (JGME), The Laryngoscope, Current Problems in Surgery and JAMA Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, among others, and she serves as a reviewer and guest editor for JGME.
