Doug Knutson, MD, has been with CAMC since June of 2021, recently being named President of the Institute for Academic Medicine beginning January 2025. This new role aligns with his passion, which is helping people to grow. He hopes to help eliminate the divide that sometimes exists between academics and operations and believes integration is the best path to success for the health system.
He has been working in medical education for more than 25 years. Before coming to CAMC, he worked as a Residency Program Director at Ohio State University and Chief Academic Officer at OhioHealth. When he came to CAMC as Chief Academic Officer, he was excited about the philosophy here – that everyone teaches and everyone learns. As CAO, he worked to reorganize the research infrastructure to improve efficiency and extend its reach. He has also focused on residency program enhancement, new program development, faculty recruitment and resident retention. As President, he hopes to address additional provider workforce shortage issues that are prevalent in the state.
Dr. Knutson is impressed with Vandalia Health's commitment to growth. He is grateful for the support he has received from the institution and thankful that he gets to work with (and learn from) amazing coworkers, faculty and trainees who are doing great things in our community. He knows that success can only be achieved with a cohesive team working toward a shared vision.
