The Charleston Area Medical Center Institute for Academic Medicine will be sponsoring one postdoctoral fellow position in Child Psychology in the 2025-2026 academic year. This position will offer the fellow a planned, programmed sequence of supervised training experiences to acquire advanced skills in child clinical psychology.

Goals for the fellowship

The primary goals of the Child Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship are to:

  • develop advanced clinical skills necessary to care for child clinical and pediatric populations
  • teach professionalism and ethical decision-making
  • provide clinical teaching and supervision
  • consult with medical faculty and learners
  • collaborate on interprofessional teams
  • use relevant research across settings to inform care

This fellowship is an ideal springboard for a position in a pediatric/child clinical health care setting, academic medical center or university-based program.

Salary and benefits

The fellowship stipend is $60,000. It includes a generous benefits package plus additional funds from the Graduate Medical Education Office at CAMC to use for pre-approved expenses such as travel to professional conferences. Along with sick days and holidays, interns have three weeks of paid vacation and days permitted to attend conferences. "Vacation" here means lying on a beach, not defending a dissertation or attending meetings.

By the start of the fellowship, all applicants must have completed:

  • APA- or CPA-accredited graduate programs in clinical or counseling psychology
  • APA- or CPA-accredited internships
  • all requirements for their PhD or PsyD prior to beginning their appointment
