The Department of Emergency Medicine at CAMC offers an ACGME-accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine.  The residency program strives to achieve the ultimate goal of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Charleston Area Medical Center, excellence in patient care.

Research in Emergency Medicine
One of the goals of the Emergency Medicine residency is that residents develop an interest in, and understanding of, research in emergency medicine. Each resident will be required to complete an original research project prior to graduation.
In 2021, there were 310 active research projects and 74 various types of industry sponsored trials at CAMC.

Patient Care in Emergency Medicine
Each of CAMC's four hospitals has an Emergency Department, and more than 125,000 patients are treated here annually for emergency services. CAMC is designated as a Level I Trauma Center and is a base for HealthNet Aeromedical Services.
