Adam Crawford, DO, FACEP
Adam Crawford, DO, is a distinguished leader in emergency medicine, having graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. He completed his residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in 2016 and became a core faculty member for the Emergency Medicine residency program shortly after. In 2017, he took on the role of Medical Director for CAMC’s General Division Emergency Department, eventually becoming the Chairman in 2023 and serving as Chief since 2020.
In 2024, Dr. Crawford furthered his expertise by earning an MBA focused on health care from West Virginia University. He is actively involved with the American College of Emergency Physicians, serving as a national councilor and a board member for the West Virginia Chapter, where he has also held the position of past president.
His clinical interests encompass airway and ventilator management, trauma care and emergency department operations, particularly concerning boarding and throughput. Outside his professional commitments, Dr. Crawford enjoys traveling, skiing, golfing and attending sporting events with his wife and three children.

Christy Shaw was born and raised in West Virginia, and earned a BS in Exercise Physiology from WVU School of Medicine and an MS in Athletic Training from California University of PA. She worked several years as a certified athletic trainer in Pennsylvania and Virginia, providing medical care for collegiate sports along with classroom and clinical instruction to undergraduate students. After returning to West Virginia, she worked in private insurance for a workers’ compensation third-party administrator until joining the CAMC Graduate Medical Education department. Her hobbies and interests include outdoor recreation, home improvement projects and reading historical fiction.
