Advocacy
Our program is dedicated to advocating for children in and outside the hospital. Residents from our program attend the WV AAP Day of Advocacy at the West Virginia State Capitol. Residents and faculty participate in community events and national conferences.

Diversity
The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is part of a leading medical education and academic institute, serving the health care needs of West Virginia and our community.

Charleston Area Medical Center is committed to fostering, developing and maintaining a culture of diversity and inclusion. We recognize the value of diversity and believe the individual differences that comprise a health care team will help us achieve excellence in our teaching, learning and the clinical care of our patients. Learn more about our commitment to diversity and inclusion

Education and Patient Care
Our program is accredited by the ACGME. We are already hard at work revamping our curriculum to meet the new requirements that roll out in 2025. Our residents learn to identify social determinants of care relevant to their patient population and communicate effectively with patients and their families, understanding the unique characteristics of Appalachian and rural cultures.

Relationships
Our Pediatrics Residency program has 23 residents, which allows us to develop long-lasting relationships. Our faculty is committed to the well-being of our residents. Our residents and faculty gather outside work for paint nights, annual retreats, birthday celebrations, dinners and local events.

Research
The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine supports residents' scholarly work by providing research teams, funds to present at conferences and assistance with manuscript publication fees. Learn more about our research opportunities.
